Lost Vista Themes (both Basic and Aero) after memory upgrade RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello

I just upgraded my recently bought laptop HP dv6225us Home Premium from 1gb to 2gb.

System property and dxdiag shows the 2gb, however i can no longer use Aero nor Vista Basic

when I go to 'Windows Color and Appearance" control panel, i can no longer see the Windows Aero or Basic in the Color Scheme list.

    I tried the these keys

    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM\Composition set to 1 (32-bit DWORD)
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM\CompositionPolicy set to 2 (32-bit DWORD)

    still no help..

I refreshed the windows Experince Index still no help.

I can NOT see the 'Open classic appearance properties for more color options' either in teh control panel.

    Ideas anyone ?

  • Problem fixed.

The 'Theme' service was disabled. Enabling + Start the service fixed the problem.
