Firewall rules to allow Sernver Manager remote connection to Hyper-v core R2 in Workgroup RRS feed

  • Question

  • I’m trying to find out what firewall rules I need to add to allow Server Manager to access a Remote Server.

I can connect to the server with the Server Manager when the Private Firewall Profile on the Server is off. I can’t connect when its on so I assume I need to add some sort of rule to allow Server Manager access.

I’m just not sure what it is.

    I tried

    Configure-SMRemoting.exe –enable

     and also

Netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group=“remote administration” new enable=yes

which executed successfullybut I get this error when I enable the private firewall profile.

Online   - Verify WinRM 3.0 service is installed, running, and required firewall ports   are open

    I’m running small setup as follows;

    -          Windows 10 Pro Client running Server Manager

    -          Hyper-v 2012 R2 Server

    -          The server has been set to Network Category Private and Remote Management is Enabled

    -          Both the Client and Server are setup on the same Workgroup

  • Hi bassmann2,

Verify that exceptions to the following firewall rules are enabled, and have not been disabled by Group Policy settings:

    • COM+ Network Access (DCOM-In)

    • Remote Event Log Management (NP-In)

    • Remote Event Log Management (RPC)

    • Remote Event Log Management (RPC-EPMAP)

Beside, enable port number 5985 for WinRM service .

    Best Regards,
