  • You need to choose compatible version of Symantec Endpoint Protection 14.x, look at this picture from Symantec website.

If you are using Windows 10 1709, you need to install Symantec Endpoint Protection 14 RU1, I think the Symantec support should tell you this.

  • Thank you but this is not problem with the SEP version. I tried all. I have tried one more thing: new W10 installation and it works. It has to be some problem with hotfix or update from Microsoft or reseller has something extra installed.

    Any more ideas ?

  • The problem is with Windows version I suppose. Creators Update 1703 and newer. With W10 v. 1607 there is no problem to install SEP client.

Anyone knows what was changed since 1607 ??

Steps to Install Symantec Endpoint Protection Version 14 build 1904 (14.0.1904.0000) in Windows 10 Pro

    1. Go to Control Panel ---> Firewall settings ---> Turn Off all Private and Public Networking Settings
    2. Search services.msc and Run as Administrator. Look for Remote Registry choose Manual and click Start button. If the Start button is disabled, choose first the Manual and click Apply button it should enabled the Start button.
    3. Go to Symantec Endpoint Protection Package you've created and Run SEP64 exe (for 64 bit) run it as Administrator, it should install without an error. And install also smcinst as Administrator afterwards (If you do not have package deployment for client search the procedure in the internet).
    4. After installation Restart the PC as stated.
    5. After Restart, open Symantec Endpoint Protection, click LiveUpdate... to ensure an updated necessary configuration and setting from the Symantec Domain Server.
    6. After updates, click the Help button above ---> Troubleshooting...
    7. Select Management and in Communication Settings click Import, choose the SyLink xml file in the Symantec Endpoint Protection Package you've created, notice that in General Information Server will be stated as your Symantec Endpoint Domain Server.
    8. In your Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager, look for the PC nae or IP Address you have installed, it should be listed on it by now.
    9. If you want to have a Policy Profile , you can Export the Policy Profile in the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager and Import it like in steps in 6 & 7. Just look for the Policy Profile and click Import and select the Exported Policy Profile.
    10. This works with me using Windows 10 Pro.
    11. If it doesn't work, please refer to internet for other suggestion.
    12. Thanks!!!
