Login from a different domain RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello everyone,

I have setup my Sharepoint 2013 farm and I would like to be able to login users from different domains of my network.

I was able to do this in Sharepoint 2007 without any specific action (I already did the correct configurations of the trust relantionshio from domain A to domain B, and I can validate this because in other applications [like SQL Server] I can login users from different domains).

Can you help me please ?

    Best regards !

  • If the domains are part of the same forest, you shouldn't have to do anything extra.

If the domains are part of different forests and you have a two-way trust using Forest-Wide Authentication, you shouldn't have to do anything.

If you have a one-way trust, you need to implement the property on each Web Application involved using these instructions, setting the peoplepicker-searchadforests value after setting setapppassword.

If you use Selective Auth, you need to provide your Application Pool account(s) with access to the remote domain controllers.

You also need to make sure that the SharePoint Servers have port access to the remote DCs.  See http://blogs.technet.com/b/wbaer/archive/2009/01/21/people-picker-port-protocol-requirements.aspx.
