Vista won't install on my ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have an ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe motherboard with 4 gig of ram, 250 gig hard drive, and AMD Athlon 3200 + processor, and a GEforce 7800 GTX video card.  While installing Vista, it gets about 75% done according to the progress bar, and it locks up and goes no further.  I've tried installing both the 32 and 64 bit versions, and I still get the same results.  Any help would be appreciated.

  • Drop down to 2GB of RAM and see what that does for you.

  • Dropping down the memory size will not solve the problem. You need to configure your hardware inside the computer. This is exactly what happened to my computer. What you need to do is change the ribbon cable on the back of your hard drive and make sure that your DVD player is hooked up as Secondary Master. The jumper on the back of the DVD player must be set to Master or MA as imprinted on the back of it. The partition that it created must be wiped off before you try to install it again, otherwise it will not show a partition that you are trying to install. Good Luck!
