migrate database to another server RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

How can I migrate all Sharepoint 3.0 databases to a different server?

I installed both SharePoint and SQL 2005 in the same server, and it became too busy.

So I need to migrate all SharePoint and Project Server to another server.

How can I do this? I think to backup existent sites and restore them on a new content database located on a new server...

But the SharedServices and Project server databases? And Admin content and config databases?

Is there a simple way to do this?

    Thanks a lot.

  • I have migrate most of sharepoint databases.

The sharepoint configDB, I backed it up, restored it on the new server and use stsadm tool setconfigdb command to set the new db.

The sharepoint contents dbs, I backed up the sites, create a new content db on the other server and restored the sites on this db.

But the SharedServices databases I didn't migrate. I don't know if it will work and my services can't stop. Is there any easy way to migrate them?
