Server 2012 Remote Desktop Services VDI Lock after Innactivity RRS feed

  • Question

  • We're running a Windows Server 2012 R2 VDI Solution using windows 8.1. In this environment we are connecting to the VMs via a Windows Embedded Standard 7 Build that boots directly to a remote desktop prompt.

What we need to happen is for the computer to lock after a certain amount of time. Simple, right?... Wrong

We've tried the following things to make this happen:

    • Traditional GPO to go to the screensaver after a certain amount of time and require the password upon logging back in does not work. I suspect that this is because the connection is not considered local logon but, instead, it's considered a console logon.
    • Scheduled task configured with a GPO will not honor the idle time. The computer locks after 4-5 minutes of inactivity no matter what idle time is specified.

    Any suggestions are appreciated!!
