Vista Beta 2 - Modem not found RRS feed

  • Question

  • Installed Vista Beta 2 X86 on my second HD. Figured I would try the 32 bit version prior to the 64.

Same system functions fine with XP PRO - 32 bit.

    Biostar TFORCE4 U MainBoard, Athlon 64 3000+ , 1G DDR PC3200, ATI 128MB DDR Graphics.

Get errors when trying to install BIOSTAR Mainboard drivers and Broadxent V.92 PCI Fax Modem driver from respective self starting CD's.

Vista cannot find drivers on CD's either.

Device manager depicts no modem is present.

Vista indicates it requires PCI driver that I believe is on Biostar CD.

ISP, Juno troubleshooting software, indicates modem is BUSY and being used by another program.

    Solutions welcome.

  • I never tested the 32 version but since you have a 64 bit process go ahead and try the 64 bit version.  I didn't have any issues with recognizing any of my PCI device or my CD drive with it.

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe the 64 version was developed first and then came the 32 version so the 64 version probably has less problems.
