DHCP Scope Migration RRS feed

  • Question

  • Would like to migrate one DHCP scope at a time to a new server. Can 1 scope be exported and migrated to the new server? Once imported on the new server i was going to deactivate the scope on the old server.

Will an ipconfig /release and renew be required on all ip's in order to talk with the new DHCP server or will it just renew when the lease expires? also will ip's be retained or will they pick up new ips?

I’m a little confused about it.Do you mean active scope?

DHCP would prior to assign the same IP to the previous device when your address is enough.

DNS record update its timestamp when your IP has no change with run ipconfig /registerdns.
