  • RD - Is the Windows Update Service running? Have you tried stopping and starting it again?

Have you tried the following items on these systems: http://pcerrorpedia.com/how-to-fix-windows-update-error-80070002/

You may need to narrow it down to a specific update that failed, uninstall that update, and reinstall it. You can find failed updates by going to control panel > All control Panel Items > Windows Update > Select on the left hand column View Update History > Find the failed update.

Make sure the failed update hasn't been superseded by another update. Uninstall, then reinstall the update.

  • Hi,

Besides that, you also could run this "Fix it" tool to fix this issue:

Windows Update error "0x80070002" or "0x80070003"

  • Completely resetting windows update components seemed to do the trick.
