Security Baseline for Internet Explorer 9 available? RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • hi scm guys,

    you've done a great job developing the SCM tool, especially my large customers love it too :-)

    but  ... we already use and integrate IE9 and therefore are looking / waiting / searching for appropriate baselines downloadable for IE9 (!).

    btw.: same applies for Windows 7 with SP1, which also introduced a few new GPO settings.

    When will this kind of stuff be available?

    regards Rainer from Germany

  • Hi

    Same question from me.

    I have downloaded today the most recent SCM but no IE9 Baselines where available...

    I was at TechDays Switzerland yesterday and Ari Bixhorn presented IE9 and SCM with IE9 Baselines :-)

    regards from Switzerland

  • Ranier and Pat;

    Thanks for your notes. I'll have to talk to that Ari guy in Switzerland!

    OK, seriously, the new and updated baselines are progressing well. We have dependencies on another project though, Security Compliance Manger 2.0. So, here's the deal: We finished the IE9 baselines a few days ago and the testers are going to start testing them soon. We'll go through a few cycles of bug fixing and test review, for example, I already know there are some errors in the GRC categorization, they won't affect generating GPOs or SCAP content, but we'd like to improve the GRC categorization so that people trying to implement end-to-end compliance management with SCM, our baseline, and the System Center suite are happy with our work. We hope to post the Beta version of the IE9, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Server 2008 R2 baselines in June. You'll be able to get access to them by joining the Beta via Connect. If all goes well we hope to publish the final versions of these baselines by the end of July, other updated and new baselines will be released later in the year. But we have that dependency on SCM 2.0, and I'm not sure exactly how their schedule looks right now, Jeff Sigman is the program manager for the project and he discusses his schedule in other posts in this forum as well as in the Security and Compliance Blog: http://blogs.technet.com/b/secguide/.

  • Pat;

    Do not forget that our baselines will only work in SCM 2.0, and I'm not sure what the schedule is for SCM 2.0. Even if the baselines are ready, we can't release them until SCM 2.0 is released.

  • Kurt,

    Do you mean the final release of SCM 2.0 or will it also become available for the Alpha and Beta testers of SCM 2.0 if they're reade before the final release of SCM 2.0?

  • IE9 Beta baselines released with the SCM v2 Beta. Just install the Beta and IE9 comes with!
