Shared Mailbox On Prem


  • Hi we a hybrid setup right now with office 365.

    On prem we have multiple Shared Mailboxes which have their AD account disabled.

    Because they are disabled they do not sync up to Office 365 and users who have are on Office 365 can not access these shared mailboxes.

    What is the recommended solution here?

    Should I enable all the shared mailboxes in AD and allow to sync? This did work for one shared mailbox and has no office 365 license assigned.

    Any help would be appreciated

  • Hi,

    In current situation, we can configure AAD Connector to sync disabled account in local AD to Office 365.
    Please open "Synchronization Rules Editor" on the AAD Connect server, select "In from AD - User AccountEnabled" and click Edit. 
    Conns - AADSYNC01 - Royal TS_2015-05-07_14-31-53
    Then, change the scoping filter of this rule to ISNOTNULL instead of a bit operator:
    Conns - AADSYNC01 - Royal TS_2015-05-07_14-43-47
    After that, we can start to move shared mailbox to Office 365 if you want.
