App-V profile question RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

    We currently have an application working under App-V and have it running side-by-side with an older version of the same app, which is locally installed. This app saves user settings in the users profile directory, under app data\cms.

    My question is, after trying to switch the override/merge options on the VFS tab of the package, I am unable to get both apps sharing the local profile folder - is this even possible? Or will the App-V app only ever use the VE profile?

    Thanks

  • Hello,

    try the following;

    1. Delete the virtualized folder entirely post-sequencing

    2. Exclude the folder from the capture (using the available settings before you start sequencing).

  • The best approach would be option 2 - add %CSIDL_APPDATA%\CMS to the list of exclusions before sequencing.
