Modify Configuration Domain Controller not working RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

In our environment we have one Exchange server (2007 SP3 UR10).

We have four global catalog servers, let's call them

    dc1.mydomain.com

    dc2.mydomain.com

    dc3.mydomain.com

    dc4.mydomain.com

Under Server Configuration->right click server->Properties->System Settings, I see that only dc1 and dc2 are listed. How can I get Exchange to use dc3 and dc4 as well?

Event ID 2080 shows that all four DCs are discovered, so there should be no connectivity issue.

  • Before we can answer, I think we'll need some more information.  Are you sure all four are global catalogs?  And are all of them in the same Active Directory site?  Also, what roles are installed on which servers?

  • Hello,

Yes. please follow the Willard Martin‘s  suggestion to check some information.

Please check if these GCs are in the same forest. And check if your exchange can ping all GCs.

  • Run this at the command line and you'll have an "official" list of global catalog servers:

    dsquery server -isgc

  • Thank you for your replies.

All four are global catalogs. dsquery server -isgc shows all four servers.

We have one site, one forest.

All servers are reachable by ping from the Exchange server.

    The roles are as follows:

    dc1 - No roles

    dc2 - No roles

    dc3 - Schema, infrastructure

dc4 - Domain naming, PDC, RID pool
