Threads don't show all replies

Hi everybody,
Today I am experiencing a problem with displaying all replies in the threads. Quite often only few of the replies are shown and not all of them. Say, in this thread https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/9765e909-7e69-4f69-a261-37e54c00f0df/help-creating-stored-procedure-with-cursor-loop?forum=transactsql I don't see my few last replies although I know I posted them.

I just had that issue. Posted another reply which appeared then saw my previous reply when the thread updated with my new reply. So I deleted one of the replies. Don't know the issue though.La vida loca

I reported to fissues. Looks like a sync problem.

Yes, I sent a few emails last night as well. The reply I got was to clear cache and browser history and that they can not reproduce. I am getting that problem intermittently. I sent a few samples but they are good only for a short duration of time.

Right. I also think it's a problem on MS site, not local. It's hard to reproduce on demand, though, but very annoying. Say, yesterday I was unable to see the last reply in the thread I was actively participating and I tried MS Edge in addition to Google Chrome I normally use.

Here is the sample right now
How many replies do you see? From the forum's interface I see that Brenda replied, but I can not see her last reply.

I see one reply from Olaf. If I bring up the thread RSS view, I can see Brenda's response. The RSS view is basically the only way I can keep up with certain threads now.
-
She added another reply to make the first reply show.
Here is another sample
I've added a link to my recent item on Connect, but it doesn't show up in that thread.

May be somewhat related problem - I got email that my reply was marked as an answer in this thread
https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/d34b2a50-8f2e-42e7-b4ee-135edf75f82a/visual-studio-2015-scaffolding-is-not-working?forum=visualstudiogeneral but I don't see anything marked.

Naomi, your last response isn't currently showing in the thread view for me, but I saw it via the RSS feed. I also ran into a thread today where I tried to mark a proposed answer but couldn't because someone else (Dave Patrick) had already proposed it. The view I saw had no indication that the post was already proposed as an answer.
Methinks you're correct and that these issues are related.
EDIT: Now your last response shows up, since I posted here. Interesting...

Still doesn't work for me. In the first thread I mentioned (in migration forum) I still don't see my reply and in the second thread (about scaffolding) I still see nothing marked as an answer.

And replies I got from fissues are telling me the issue is with my browser. But clearly it's not the case as several users (me, you, Brenda and few others in this thread) experience the same issue.

I am getting this problem again right now :(
Apparently the user replied again in that long thread, but I can not see his reply. May be I should post that I can not see it.

The original issue reported is still occuring.
IMO MS should provide some form of notification in each Forum that a change has been made to the system that provides Forums functionality and the date/time that occured. Since I suspect that is what happens prior to issues like this occuring. Then people could at least understand why all the sudden issues are occuring which were not occuring previously. And reported issues could then be added in each Forum as to what issues are occuring with the current system change and when an expectation of correction would be forthcoming.

Hi,
I had this problem today two times in the german forum with a foreign post and one of my own answers in another thread.
The postings arn't shown in the overview of all threads and also not in the single view of a thread. I see all answers only in if I select the special forum.

Another weird problem. Please check this thread
I've created the connect link and even got a reply about them looking into it and one person from our team voted and clicked on 'Can reproduce'. But now that link no longer works for me.
Can anyone still access it?

Yes, same here. This is very strange - why would a Connect item be deleted????

One possibility is that Scaffolding t4 is not directly a MS product (although I am not sure). But in any case, should I at least receive some notification about it? Moreover, I was unable to send a feedback email using the main MS Connect page / Help/Feedback/Submit - I got that same error again.

hi Naomi,
I don't think that this is the case because the forum and also MSFT blog sites show strange behavours since a few days.
Especially I noted that many sites on blogs.msdn.com started showing the following error since yesterday morning when loading a page:
"The target of the callback could not be found"
the error message is independent of the used browser - it appears even on IE :-)
I've reported it on MSDN feedback site 22hours ago, got a message that they'll look at it but the error still appears.
Despite risking to be banned by E.P. I still have the impression that the forum SW is not really a good demonstration of their web technology :-)

Well, the forum works well most of the time, but of course we want it to work flawlessly.
Say, I am working myself on a Web project. I am facing different challenges every day. My very latest challenge is that AngularJs /ui-router doesn't behave the way I need it to behave. See this long thread
https://github.com/angular-ui/ui-router/issues/582#issuecomment-142971538
I've updated to the latest angularjs-ui-router.js file but the issue is not solved for me.
So, I can sympathize the team somewhat.

I experience similar issues, so we can asume it is a known/widespread issue. My current working theory is that some often used pages (especialyl forum overview and thread view) have thier own servers and that there is some synchronisation issues.
I don't see how this Forum could work without some heavy clustering and caching.Specifically I experience the issues:
- threads that are shown as having replies in mythreads/the forum overview lack those posts upon viewing them
- a lot of the times just reloading the page seems to fix that. This feels as if a cached version was not properly invalidated before the first request.
- a few threads are not fixed by reloading. I guess those are the cases where posting something new would help, as others sugested.
- a few rare are totally unsynched - they show "last replies" in the overview that are not there when viewing the thread itself. And they have posts in the thread view that seem unacounted in the overviews.

My replies here are an example where that doesn't help. Maybe I should have tried constructing a response to one of the posts that I can't see?
Heh. It's fixed. Thanks for making me see that.

I doubt there's much we can reliably do to force the threads to properly display. I just keep refreshing them every now and again to see if the thread comes into sync. Some do, some don't.
On two separate posts I replied to; my reply had disappeared. On both occasions I duplicated my reply and then they both showed up.

Thank you for the details Jim,
As said on the other email thread, we are investigating this issue and also we have bug regarding the same for the engineering team which was created earlier. Sure, will reply back on the forum thread directly.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi All,
We apologize for the inconvenience caused.
We have found the cause for the issue and it's been fixed now. Currently, we are not able to reproduce this issue anymore.
Please have a check and let us know if you are still able to reproduce this issue.
Thanks for all your support,
Vinod
Thank you Vinod. The problem has been intermittent so we may have to wait a few days to be sure. I will post here if this continues to happen. I am sure others will do the same.
Thank you again.

Yes. It happened once that I could detect. I received an email and RSS notification of a reply but it was gone on the thread. Refreshing and other things that had worked did not seem to work.
I suspect that it will get worse over the next few days if this is the same thing as before.

RSS shows it should be
In Answers we could request just a MessageID. Is there an analogous syntax to request a MessageID only and get the forum inferred from it?
How come this one doesn't say PermanentURI anywhere in its XML?
Have things changed? I don't remember this layout.
I wonder if we can vote for it to make it visible? <eg>

This problem has been inmtermittent for months now. Only since September has it become rather annoying. Here's an example of an entire forum frozen in time. The main tread list show last post was almost 7 hours ago.
I doubt it. https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?forum=lightswitch
This one is more recent - doesn't show:
I wonder if this is a valid way to report a bug since this post will likely show up only after the problem magically 'heals' itself. I think there are caching problems on the server side.
HTH,
Josh

This thread is not visible if you try to check this forum's threads, BTW.
I reported the problem to fissues and they told me (few hours ago) that they are working on it. Right now I'm checking 'My forums' periodically and when I see last post with recent time I open it.
