Quick question: Skype for Business service vs client RRS feed

  • Question

  • In ProPlus, the client is available but not the Skype for Business service.

So general speaking, the Office 365 tenant that doesn't have the Skype for Business service license:
you are not able to login to that tenant at all and so you have no user availability, conferencing options etc. etc.?

But you are able to login in a Office 365 tenant that does have the Skype for Business service license?

Answers

  • Yes, you're correct in what you say.

Pro-Plus is just providing you with the client. You also need to have one of the plans that Erwin has listed (or a Skype for Business standalone plan) so you have an actual service to log in against.

    Kind regards
    Ben

  • ProPlus is the Office License, Skype is included in the ProPlus License.

For the use of Skype for Business Online you will need:

    Small Business

    • Office 365 Business Premium
    • Office 365 Business Essentials

    Enterprise

    • Enterprise E1
    • Enterprise E3
    • Enterprise E5

If you want any extra like PSTN conferencing or PSTN Calling you will need additional licenses

  • Thanks for your answer, but what do you mean with "Skype is included in the ProPlus License."

Are you saying that you get the S4B client only and so you cannot actually use it because you cannot login as there is no S4B service?

That's the thing I want to know, I already found out about the licensing.
