Software Update Import issue from Microsoft Update Catalog RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm attempting to import a number of updates from the Microsoft Update Catalog into WSUS so I can use them in SCCM. The odd part of all of this is the updates are all searchable in WSUS and one of them is available in SCCM but I cannot find the other three.

In my example I have imported KB2775511 - Which is available in SCCM to deploy but the following are not.

    Anyone seen this issue before?

  • It appears the classification of the updates is "Hotfix" which might explain why it will not import into SCCM.

  • Check out Jason Sandy's answer in this thread:

Importing a hotfix update into SCCM

    Bottom line; it's not supported.

  • Hi Rolf,

I had just worked out that the classification was present in WSUS and missing in SCCM which is why it's working :(

  • It's odd that these articles talk about NOT being able to import into WSUS but in my case the update has been imported without issue. It's still that the SCCM software update configuration settings will not see the new classification.
