Get "file not found" error in Microsoft Project 2007 Std. RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I right-click on a task in MSP 2007 Std., then go to "task information" or "task notes" an error message pops up 3 times every time saying "File Not Found". After clicking "OK" 3 times it goes to the correct window whether it's task information/notes. Is there any way to avoid the error message and go straight to the task information/notes?

Any help/suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

  • Hi Chris,

There is definitely something amiss with your file as this is not normal nor expected behavior for Project.  Is there any code running in the file -- perhaps a call to another file which has been moved?

I'm afraid I'm with Terri T.  It sounds as though you have a corrupted file and a re-build of the project may be the only answer.  See FAQ 43 at the following for step by step procedure to try to recover the corrupted file.

  • It sounds like the error you get when the VBA project object goes missing.  I've encountered the same problem but don't have a solution other than rebuilding the project file.

  • I'm with Julie, this looks like file corruption. I don't think it's the VBA object issue as I think that's related to using Proejct Server. Try saving teh file to xml, then import back again to hopefully get rid of any corruption.

  • Thanks for the input guys, I will first try saving as xml and importing. If that doesn't work i'll either rewrite what I have or somehow try to find the corrupted file.
