Keyboard Shortcuts in Windows Virtual PC RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there still a keyboard shortcut to enter full screen mode in Windows Virtual PC? I remember it was Right Alt + Enter in Virtual PC 2004 and 2007, but when I tried it on the virtual XP desktop it didn't work.

  • With focus set to the Virtual PC window use the standard Windows 7 keyboard shortcut for maximizing a window:

    Windows key + up arrow

You will notice that once Virtual PC is in fullscreen mode, the standard Windows 7 keyboard shortcut Windows key + down arrow will not take the virtual machine out of fullscreen mode. You'll have to use the toolbar at the top of your screen to exit fullscreen mode.

  • Thank you the Ctrl + Alt + Break works, I am using Windows 7 64 bit with the new virtural PC which is nice once you load it. I have other VM that work after enabling the integrated features but this one would not, so for a day I searched until I found this posting.

    Again Thank you.

  • <Ctrl>-<Alt>-<End> is the equivalent of <Ctrl>-<Alt>-<Del> on the host.

As for the break key, it's probably somewhere in the upper right and you may need to press and hold the <Fn> key first.  The Windows key goes to the host unless you have the virtual machine in full screen mode.

  • Hello,

This actually worked on my Virtual PC 2007, but creates a black background with a 5" margin all over and the small window inside.  Is it possible to have a true full screen that will take the entire screen ?

    Thanks

  • I had the same problem.  Small window inside, with a black margin all around.  I accidently (out of desparation) changed the resolution in the Virtual session to maximum, and much to my amazement the Virtual PC border with menu re-appeared and I was able regain control of the session and bring it back to a normal size.

  • The "host key"+Enter only works in VPC 2007 or earlier.

Windows VPC uses RDP not the native console older VPC versions used.
