DPM 2010 - recovery point creation job hangs up then fails RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

There is a protection group for a clustered SQL Server 2008 R2 instance and one of the databases cannot be properly backed up. The consistency check/recovery point creation jobs hang up for hours, then fail with the following error:

Creation of recovery points for SqlServerVirtualName\InstanceName\Databasename on SQL Server (InstanceName).ClusterNameFQDN have failed. The last recovery point creation failed for the following reason: (ID: 3114)
Task is cancelled because some other task in agent is not responding on ClusterNameFQDN machine. (ID: 32557)

I tried to manually launch a consistency check and recovery point creation by means of express full backup (suspecting that the backup chain was broken - the database is in the Full recovery model), restarted the DPMRA services on the cluster nodes, removed the database from the protection group (the whole instance is autoprotected) but all to no avail.

I'm sure the database itself is the source of the problems since all other protected objects are fine.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance...

  • Hi

Are their any maintenance jobs setup on SQL? Perhaps you can check with your SQL DBA?

Are you using any other backup software to run backups on SQL? It can also be this causing the problem.

you can look at this article as well, might help you:
