    I was wondering what actually happens when you up grade from Vista? Do you keep the programs (eg itunes , office) or do they need to be re-installed. Also, do all you documents stay in the same place (like in the music folder) or do they go to another folder?

    yes, if you wanted to go back to vista at that time, or assuming the final, gold code of windows 7 is released you can install that as well.

    i also did an upgrade to test and everything ran fine, although it will remove windows mail, windows photo gallery, windows movie maker and windows calendar.

    The upgrade is possbile, but clean installation is recommended. You are able to upgrade from Vista SP1 only, and if it succeeds all programs will work, and all you documents will be in the same place. I done an upgrade on my main machine, and worked like a charm. :)

    So, what exactly is gained from clean install v. upgrade. I upgraded from Vista SP2 Beta to Win 7 with no issues. I realize that the clean install does just that, cleans out all the ____ you gain from extended use of any OS. I think I will wait until Win 7 goes Gold and then clean install.

    Pretty damn satisfied with the upgrade installation process...
