Exchange 2003 backup Server for failed Cluster (A/P) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I need to add a 3rd node to my existing 2 node Exchange 2003 cluster set as Active/Passive Cluster.
We have EVS configured on the cluster, and the active/passive node are sharing resources on a disk array (quorum drive, and exchange db drive).

    Here my queries are:
Do I need to connect the 3rd Node to the Disk Array?
During a failover, can the resources be moved to the new node (3rd), if its not connected to the disk array?

I need to have a backup exchange server available, during the crash of our cluster nodes.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

I am afraid no. Your requirements can only be addressed by SCR in Exchange 2007 and DAG in Exchange 2010.

    Thanks,

  • Can I install another exchange server on the same domain, and replicate the Mailboxes from the production, and later make this (new Exchange server) offline .

  • Hello,

In Exchange 2003, there is no replicate. It uses the shared disk for DB. For more reference:
