input signal out of range, reset to 1280 x 1080 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I wonder if anyone can help me with this  problems that has just started today. I have an Acer Aspire V5 which has just been updated from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1. This laptop is used for training and is usually connected to a training monitor for students to follow along with the trainer.

This has worked perfectly until I updated to Windows 8.1. When I connect to the training monitor I get a message saying 'Input Signal out of Range, reset to 1280 x 1080 60ghz’ . There isn't a setting for the above resolution. Everything works fine until I connect to the secondary monitor. Annoyingly the message remains on that screen - I can't remove it.

Any suggestions will be gratefully appreciated.

    Thanks George

  • Hi George,

For the issue, I think it is a driver compatibility issue.

We need to install the right correct driver.

I suggest you contact Acer Aspire support to ask the latest driver issue.

    Thank you for understanding.

  • Hi,

For the issue, this issue is more likely a driver related issue.

    Please check the graphics driver.

I suggest you update the graphics driver to the latest version from manufacturer website.

Meanwhile, please let us know the secondary monitor's max resolution.

If the issue persists, please adjust your laptop's resolution setting to 800*600 to check the result.

  • Kelvin I found a temporary solution which, although not ideal, seems to work. I accessed the Graphics Control Panel and set the display to Monitor and checked the refresh rate was 60p Hz.This works but I have to repeat it each time boot the laptop and connect to another monitor. This wasn't a problem until I updated to Win 8.1.

I'm nervous about updating the driver as this caused other problems the last time I did this. Surely this must be an Win8.1 problem.

    Thanks

    George
