Power Query: Vlookup Error RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Guys,

I fetch my data from a folder first. Im trying to perform a vlook up by merging my 2 queries. The problem arising is that all my data is not being picked up. I believe the reason is that data in the column is stored as text whereas it needs to be stored as number. My column contains data in the following formats:

    1) Text: KI8525732

    2) Number: 75285936

The numbers are not being picked up by the vlookup formula. As soon as I change the format, the number stored as text changes but the rows which contain text shows an error stating: DataFormat.Error: We couldn't convert to Number.

Please help guys. Is there any way out of this ?

  • It is difficult to help without a full picture of your data. One idea would be to change the number format into text before the merge, with Text.From.

For better help please post sample of your 2 columns + your M query.
