Comment on Tool... Users and Diskspace RRS feed

  • Question

  • We found that you need about 85mb / user to run the HomeFolders workload.  Also that when you specify the number of users when Preparing the server , it is # of users * # of clients.

Execution is a bit of a pain... Would like a script where I can specify the Clients, password, and server once.

Otherwise... LOVE the TOOL!  We were able to use it to help tune our Server Service settings for a large Fileserver.  THANKS!!

  • We're working on a documentation for the /config switch. You can use it to specify a path to an xml configuration file with all the information needed by fsct. You will still have to run "fsct prepare server /config myconfig.xml", "fsct prepare client /config myconfig.xml", etc. but you won't have to specify all the parameters each time. Also, values specified on the command line have higher priority than values in the configuration file so if you do: "fsct prepare server /config myconfig.xml /verbose debug" the verbosity level will be set to debug, no matter what you had in myconfig.xml.
