Changing a Dynamic Distribution Group name RRS feed

  • Question

  • Exchange newbie here and I need to change a Dynamic Distribution Group name.  I've searched around the internet, but can't find exactly what I'm looking for.  There are no attributes in the filter and it's pretty basic.  Nothing in the filter is going to change, just the name.

Example - DL-Office 1 needs changed to DL-Offce 2  and I know I have to change the filter.

((RecipientType -eq 'UserMailbox' -and Office -eq 'Office 1') -and -not(Name -like 'SystemMailbox{*') -and -not(Name -like 'CAS_{*'))

What are the PowerShell commands that I need to run this?  Thanks!

  • What Exchange version are you running? if you can't change it in EMC, just create another one with the same filter.

  • We are currently in a mixed environment (2007 & 2010).  I believe the DDL is in 2007.

  • Try to use EMC in 2010 to do it, if it doesn't work, migrate the DDL to Exchange 2010 then you should be able to change the name.
