Not a valid deployment share and is not empty RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I am creating a New Deployment Share with MDT 8443 on Windows Server 2016. I receive the following error: "The path <path> exists but is not a valid deployment share and is not empty." I came across a post from 2011 in the forum that described this issue and turning off the antivirus resolved it. Turning off antivirus did not resolve for me. I also reformatted the drive to ensure it is "empty." Screen shot below:

    Thank you.

  • You need to create your deployment share in an empty folder. Try E:\DeploymentShare instead of just E:\

  • Thanks tiberriver256, that did the trick. I don't recall having to do that before, but it's been awhile since creating a new server. There were some other oddities when naming the share various names, some saying they were already in use, even though not, but I worked around that.
