Sharepoint and ProClarity Viewer - how is authentication done? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Can anyone help me out with the authentication between Sharepoint and Proclarity Analytics Server when using the ProClarity Sharepoint Page Viewer web part?   Here's my situation;

    Sharepoint 2007 Enterprise SP2
    ProClarity Analytics Server 6.3 SP2
    ProClarity Sharepoint Viewer 6.3
    Windows Server 2003

    - The ProClarity Analytics server is up and running on http://servername:81/PAS.  Windows authentication and everything works fine
    - Sharepoint site is running at http://servername:13000 through an app pool with UID:  AP_Test.   UID SP_Test has been set up as owner of Sharepoint Site.  Both users have full access to libraries at http://servername:81/PAS  (tested through individual logins)
    - A simple page with a ProClarity Sharepoint viewer was created.  No issues.
    - I created a login called ProClarity_Test_Login.
    - I login as ProClarity_Test_Login and access http://servername:13000 using the SP_Test login.  When I access the page with the ProClarity sharepoint viewer it cannot display the contents.   What is happening is that it is trying to authenticate to the ProClarity server using the ProClarity_Test_Login, not the app pool login (AP_Test) or the Sharepoint login (SP_Test).
    - Using Basic authentication I get the same results

    My understanding is that the Sharepoint login was passed to the ProClarity server?  Is this correct?    If so, what could I be doing wrong. I have replicated this situation on 2 different Win 2003 servers as well as Win 2008.

    Thanks in advance

  • When you say it cannot display the contents, what exactly are you seeing?  Is the ProClarity_Test_Login not meant to have access to PAS/SSAS?  Is the idea to have the SP_Test login be the account that is authenitcated to PAS, and so passed along to the cube?  Should this account be used for all connections to the cube, meaning there won't be user based security on the cube?  The PAS views displayed in Sharepoint are being surfaced as views, but the client machine's credentials will still be used if PAS is set to integrated security, or the client should be prompted if PAS is set to basic only.
