PXE-E32 TFTP open timeout failure on one machine RRS feed

  • Question

  • We got a fresh batch of Dell Latitude E7240 machines and having issue with excatly one(!) machine.

The machine refuses to connect to the TFTP server while PXE boot. Error "PXE-E32 TFTP open timeout".

Machines booted via PXE before and after the faulty one are working flawless.

Flashed newest and a known to work BIOS. Restarted Destribution Services and the complete server. No luck at all.

Do you believe this issue is related to a faulty NIC?

  • Hi!

It sounds like it could be the NIC, but it could also be something else.

The first thing I would try is to get a LiveCD of an OS of your choice, Debian, Ubuntu or Knoppix (lightweight).
The boot the client from the USB or CD/DVD and see if you get a connection to the network from inside the OS.

If it works, then we need to check for other possibilities, if it doesn't work, just report it to Dell as a DOA.

    Let me know what happens!

    Best regards
