Tracking Undeliverable mails rejecting from Mail server for size limit exceed RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

We have only 15 MB allowed in our Exchange Server 2013 to receive mail from external user.

One of the external user tried sending mail with 20 MB and its rejected from our Mail server with below undeliverables mail.

From: "Mail Delivery System" <MAILER-DAEMON@localhost> Date: 26 Jul 2018 23:59 Subject: Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender To: <pamusuresh@gmail.com> Cc:
This is the Email Security Gateway at host mail.secova.com. I'm sorry to inform you that the message below could not be delivered. When delivery was attempted, the following error was returned. <suresh.murugesan@secova.com>: message size 23536193 exceeds size limit     15728640 of server 10.100.5.143[10.100.5.143] Final-Recipient: rfc822; suresh.murugesan@secova.com Original-Recipient: rfc822;suresh.murugesan@secova.com Action: failed Status: 5.3.4 Diagnostic-Code: X-Email-Security-Gateway; message size 23536193 exceeds size     limit 15728640 of server 10.100.5.143[10.100.5.143]

But another external client says we are not receiving any undeliverables mails when sending mails with 20 MB .  How can we track the external users undeliverables mails logs in Exchange server  or Prove we sent undeliverables mails?

i checked in exchange transport log but there is no logs for undeliverables mails.

Are we able to prove we sent undeliverables Mail?

Please help on this issue ASAP.

    Thanks,

    Mani L

Check SMTP protocol logs on the SMTP gateway that accepts mail for you. The message was rejected so it was never received, there is nothing to send. If your gateway rejected it then its up to the sending server to generate a NDR, not you.

  • Hi Mani,

As Andy had mentioned, when the email gateway rejected messages, there is no tracking log in your server, you need to check your mail server's SMTP logs for any error messages. The actual SMTP error code that the mail server returned should be present in the Delivery Detail field in the Message Log of your email gateway.
