I am at the stage to create pool but DPM 2010 is not recognizing my drive configuration RRS feed

  • Question

  • Windows Server 2008 R2

Using external drives via eSata multiplexer called Silicon Image SiI 3124 SoftRaid 5 Controller PCIE.  The external drive storage are Fusion D500P with 5 1.5 Sata drives.

The Windows Server Backup does recognize the storage space and will utilize it but DPM 2010 sees the drive but reports the drives as no available space.

Why DPM 2010 will not see the storage drive correctly and the installed Windows Server Backup does?

DPM cannot use space in any pre-existing volumes on disks added to the storage pool. Although a pre-existing volume on a storage pool disk might have free space, DPM can use space only in volumes that it creates. To make the entire disk space available to the storage pool, delete any existing volumes on the disk and then add the disk to the storage pool.
