Microsoft Forefront orange icon help RRS feed

  • Question

  • I just downloaded Microsoft Forefront & have enabled Microsoft & Windows Update, but I am still getting the orange icon with a black exclamation point. I tried clicking "Check for Updates Now", & the task bar continues to say "No new definitions or updates are available". How do I get the green checkmark icon? Please help.

    Thank you in advance!

  • KB976668 is the latest update to the client.. if that is not installed then the client will alert you to the fact that it is not at the latest version as well.

  • Have you applied the latest patches?

Make sure you are pointing to Microsoft update (winsows update does not work)

You can find latest patches here: catalog.update.microsoft.com search for "Forefront client security"

  • Hi xjadeee,

The setup you downloaded doesn't come with latest definations, as u can imagine, new threats emerged daily. i'll suggest you get the offline update from here http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/935934 atleast for the first time, am sure you'll not experience this the next time you want to update. Remember to use addministrative rights on that. Best of luck.
