Document Library Permissions RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are currently using a document library only for some project documents. The users should only be able to access the document libary only. Can someone help me with the persmissioning of this.

We do not want the users to have access to the Top Level site  http://xxx.home.com

We have created a site called projects and within this site we created a document library.  http://xxx.home.com/projects/

The permissions on the document library need to be contribute read design and read only for the PROJECTS SITE.

We have created a sharepoint group PROJECTS (MEMBERS) and added the domain users. I already know AD security groups are preferred however as indicated, this is only temporary. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

  • Hi,

You can specify unique permission for the Project site and the document library instead of inheriting permission from the parent, then grant different permission levels to SharePoint group Projects members so that they are Contributors to the library but only Viewers to the Project site.

Let me know if I misunderstand you.

    Thanks & Regards.
