All projects are being published nightly RRS feed

  • Question

  • For the past few days, we've seen that every project in our Server 2010 draft database is getting published at midnight by some sort of timer job. The designation in the queue is Reporting (Project Publish). Can anyone suggest how I can track down which job is doing this? My users are going nuts with all of the useless notifications.

  • There is no native timer job, that automatically publishes the schedules.

Few things you can look at to troubleshoot:

    1) Has anybody introduced any powershell script recently into the farm?

    2) Under which account are the jobs that you mention are running?

    3) Have you introduced any new software or integrated with any external system recently, which may be doing this?

    4) Are there any workflows where a publish action is defined at certain stage or something.

  • It is very helpful to know we don't need to be concerned with Project Server itself doing this. In fact, we do have some custom code running, so I will explore that avenue.
