Install IE10 on Windows 7 64-Bit RRS feed

  • Question

  • Our users are currently running IE9 due to some things they need to access which have not been compatible with more up-to-date versions.  We are ready to upgrade to IE10, but I have been unable to find any downloads from Microsoft for that browser; everything attempts to push toward IE11, which will not work for us.  Is a direct download available for IE10, or must we upgrade to IE11 and then downgrade in order to get the desired version?

  • Hi Haiku,

The IE10 distributables have been withdrawn from MS Downloads.

    Please see

Starting January 12, 2016, only the most recent version of Internet Explorer on each operating system will be supported. Support varies based on the operating system's technical capabilities and its support lifecycle.

Your only viable upgrade path is Win7 IE9>IE11 + Enterprise Mode or Win10 IE11>Edgex + Enterprise Mode.

You won't be able to install IE11 on Win7 and then uninstall it to revert back to IE10... as it has never been installed. You can't downgrade IE11 on Win10, instead you use Enterprise Mode to map your intranet to use an earlier version of IE using an emulation mode (document.documentMode).

    Regards.
