Exchange 2007 unexpected error [0xEDD63F49] RRS feed

  • Question

  • We recently lost our data drive in our exchange box, we rebuild the disks and have restored most of our databases from backup directly, but one has been unable to restore to the original path, we found the same problem with two other databases and were able to resolve it by removing the database instance via adsiedit, deleting the storage group, recreating the storage group with the same name, creating a new database with the same name, then create a recovery storage group for that database, push our backup back to the recovery storage group, dismount it, swap the databases over, run eseutil /P on the swapped database, wait for replication to happen then we could mount the database as if it were the original one, we had a few other bits to do after to reconnect all the mailboxes.

But with this one storage group it just won't do it, we cant push the database back directly with our backup software, we can push it to a recovery storage group, but if we try the above solution we just can't get this one to mount, we have tried merging the database with the database management console but it fails to find the original user, and when we try to redirect all mailboxes to one mailbox user (there is only one mailbox on this storage group) we get the following error

    Error merging mailbox into (NB052)

Error merging mailbox(/O=UWL:/OU=LAMPETER/CN=RECIPIENTS/CN=NB052) into user (NB052). Error message is: Unexpected error [0xEDD63F49] while executing command 'restore-mailbox -identity NB052 -rsgdatabase "VISPA\Recovery Storage Group\UG_V_200" -rsgmailbox "/O=UWL/OU=LAMPETER/CN=RECIPIENTS/CN=NB)%"" -TargetFolder -BadItemLimit 0'...

Our backup software is Backup Exec 12.5
Our exchange version is 2007 version 08.02.0176.002

Any pointers on this would be great.

  • So to recover, did you put the backup files back in the same location they were before, mark the database with Set-MailboxDatabase -AllowFileRestore, or did you do something else?
