Excel 2010 unable to open files after MS Update KB2597166

We have some complex Excel pivot tables, that will not load after KB2597166 update is installed.

Error message: This build of Microsoft Office is unsigned and cannot be trusted by a production Windows Rights Management Servicies (RMS Server). Before using Information Rights Management (IRM) in this build, specify a test RMS server.

As far as I know we don't have a RMS server in our organization. Why is this all of a sudden a problem.

Our temporary fix is to uninstall KB2597166 every time.

Any suggestions?

Hello HKW,

This is a known issue that's cropped up with MS12-030. The problem is caused by some specific files being codesigned using a certificate that was incorrectly configured. This problem can be fixed by installing the hotfix package from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2598144
