Word 2008 for Mac Crashes

Every time I open my Word for Mac it crashes. It creates a report but nothing gets fixed. I had it opening the last five documents when I re-opened word. I have now deleted those documents and still my word is crashing. Please help I need to use my word for work. Also, please be user friendly
