Exchange 2007 SP1 MP and SCE RRS feed

  • Question

  • As we know MSFT releases MP for Exchange 2007 SP1.
It can be applied for SCE SP1?

In note about that relase Pete Zerger (http://www.systemcenterforum.org/exchange-2007-mp-refresh-brings-significant-improvements/) wrote:

This MP release has dependencies on some recent hotfixes released :Including KB950853, KB951979, KB951380

All those fixes are available by PSS (not problem) and are applies for SCOM, not SCE.

    Any idea? Anybody try it?

Yes you need SP1 to monitor Exchange 2007 SP1.  I'd also recommend downloading the latest MP which was released this week:

Still no word of 2008 support however, this only applies to Server 2003 and Exchange 2007.

  • Hi Mike,

I'm having the same question as Ziemek and I'm unsure if this has already been answered. The Exchange 2007 MP mentions some dependencies to the following SCOM 2007 hotfixes:

    KB950853, KB951979, KB951380

The hotfix readmes explicit mention, that these hotfixes are for SCOM 2007 only. So the question is, can we install these hotfixes to SCE 2007 to? If not are there any SCE versions of these hotfixes?

    Thanks Frank.

  • I don't think so. The files mentioned in the hotfixes are from 05/2008. SP1 for SCOM has been released 02/2008 and the english version of SP1 for SCE 2007 has been released in 03/2008.

Also the build number of the DLL "mommodules.dll" in SCE 2007 SP1 is 6.0.6278.0. KB 951380 has build number 6.0.6278.20 for this DLL.

And KB 951979 has the following text:

    SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You are using a management server that has Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) installed. This management server also has certain management packs installed. In this scenario, the following problems occur.

So this hotfix is not included in SCOM SP1, because this hotfix fixes issues / problems hapening with SCOM SP1. As you can read in this blog post http://itcertpro.com/2008/04/system-center-essentials-sp1-performance-module-could-not-find-a-performance-counter/, at least the following problem also occurs with SCE 2007 SP1:

    Problem 5

Incorrect warnings are raised for Performance Data Source Module when some services in the system are disabled. Additionally, Operations Manager displays the following error message:
Performance Module could not find a performance counter
