differences between windows xp and Windows 7 communications RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are a restaraunt company running windows xp on POS terminals and windows 7 on our store server.  We have recently refreshed out POS terminals to be running windows 7.  Ever since the refresh, our credit card transaction times have gone from 2 - 3 seconds to 7 - 8 seconds.  Further testing proved that if we put the Windows XP machine back in place as the main POS terminal transaction times are back to normal.

The question is, what differences are there in the way Windows 7 communicates via TCP/IP with other windows 7 terminals as opposed to Windows XP?

    Any information would be appreciated

  • This may be due to a firewall rule monitoring the program's internet access. Kindly check the firewall rules. Also, since the upgrade is very recent, it is very likely that Windows Update is downloading updates and that it consumes a large bandwidth. Check Windows Update also.

  • Hi tdinil

Windows 7 have more security function than Windows XP. these may be the reason that caused this problem.
