List(s) of Hyper-V (and not Hyper-V only) tools RRS feed

  • Question

  • Today I found that we have two copies of the list:

There is a couple of problems with this.

    • The lists are mostly overlapped. What happens if one needs to edit the list? Is he supposed to fix both copies?
    • The lists look very simialr but are not completely the same. So one could read one list and don't bother reading another. In such case he could miss some importaint points.

BTW, the former list contains some tools that are not virtualization-related (or even virtualization-aware!) at all. They are JetStress and SQLIOSim. I don't think these tools should be listed among others. If you think we really need them here we could create a separate section (called something like “Application-specific Performance Planning/Testing/Analysis tools”) for them.

  • I agree that starting a new section called PerfTest is a good idea. I've made that change. Overlapping lists will be common on the wiki, I don't see a long term solution to it. The intent of the "Tools" topic is to be the longest list, with the tools in the troubleshooting (or other topics) being a subset of those.
