DR procedures for exchange 2010 and DPM 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I need to know what is the exact procedure for exchange recovery with DPM .

    I have a exchange 2010 SP1 + DPM 2010

    Backup scope

    - Bare Metal backup of both C: and D:\ drives every week
    - Data Store and public folder everyday

In case of a total crash of the system :

    -Rebuild the server
    - Restore C:\ and D:\ volumes from DPM
    - Restore latest datastore + public folder database

    Is this correct ?

In what situation I need to re-install and use desasterrecovery switch ?

  • Hi,

if you are setting up BMR backup then you won't have to Rebuild the server + Restore C:\ and D:\ drives.

Only restore the BMR and it will restore your server up to the date you have backup it the last time.

Then you can restore the latest datastore + public folder database using Exchange Recovery.
