Can't get some switches out of "Not Monitored" state RRS feed

    I am building an SCOM environment as a school internship assignment.
    Everything went well so far, but now i'm stuck at the following point:
    When i added 2 cisco switches they were added in "Not Monitored" state, and I can't seem to get them to turn into "monitored" state. When i added a cisco router, it was immediatly Monitored.
    I am using SCOM 2007 with Service Pack 1 installed, run on a WS2003 Standard Edition VMware machine. This is my first experience with the SCOM software, so I'm fairly unexperienced.
    Is there something I am missing? should I maybe install an additional management pack for those switches? The SCOM environment is in a very early stage, since I have just begun adding the network devices.
    I hope I layed out the problem clear enough, and appreciate the help you can give me.

    HI,
    First, this forum is for System Center Essentials. For support for System Center Operatiosn Manager, please use the News groups (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/opsmgr/bb839593.aspx).

    As for your SNMP problem you should update your SCOM enviroment with some hotfixes. You can find good information about what you should apply at http://blogs.technet.com/kevinholman/archive/2009/01/27/which-hotfixes-should-i-apply.aspx. One specific is the kb957511 that fixes some SNMP problem. Also look at http://www.systemcenterforum.org/news/workaround-for-opsmgr-and-essentials-2007-hotfix-installation-problem/ to verify that the update is applied correctly.

     Sorry for posting in the wrong forum, I applied the update like you said, but I still have the problem.
