    451 4.4.0:535 5.7.3 Authentication unsuccessful. Attempted failover to another host, but that did not succeed. Either there are no alternate host or the delivery did not succeed to all alternate hosts

    Apparently, authentication credentials from mail provider was deleted (which is configured as SBS smarthost)

    Restored it and now Okay

  • Hopefully you mean Exchange 2010 not 2011. Looks like you're behind on service packs for Exchange 2010 as SP2  and Update Rollup 2 is available.

  • Hi,

    At first, please make sure that your server (OS & Exchange) is up-to-date. Then you need to ask the sender to post the detailed NDR message here to get further analysis.

    Towards the internal mail flow testing, you could run the following command in the EMS:

    Test-Mailflow “Your_ExchangeServer_FQDN” -TargetEmailAddress “Affected_Email_Address” -Verbose

    Just like the figure below:

     

    Towards the Internet mail flow testing, you could use the Microsoft Remote Connectivity Analyzer to verify the status of the mail sending.

  • Any Third party mail security software installed? Have you tried running Fix my Network wizard from SBS console , does it shows any errors?

    From command prompt > telnet mx1.hotmail.com 25

    mail from:(your email address)

    rcpt to : v_2mohik@hotmail.com

    ..

    Post back if it says Queued mail for delivery and results of command get-queue | fl.
