Change/replace WFE for SharePoint Protection RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am using SCDPM 2012 to backup SharePoint 2010. That is working fine for several years now. The problem is that the WFE Server we used crashed. As we had several for SharePoint itself this is not an issue. But I am not able to restore any SharePoint data anymore. Regardless whether I am choosing "restore to original" or "restore to alternate" location DPM always want's to use the crashed WFE Server. I think I understand the reason for that but the situation is: I cannot restore any data.

Is there any way to replace the WFE for another one which still exists within DPM for the existing backed up data?

Unfortunately I cannot re-create a WFE with this name, so this is not an option.

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

If you follow the steps in this TechNet article, you should be able to continue protection and restore without problems. In your case, start with step 4. on the new WFE server.

    Switching the Front-End Web Server
