DPM 2010 Replica is Inconsistent RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm getting this error on a couple of different SQL servers for every database and volumes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

DPM is installed on a Dell PowerVault DL2900 with an MD1000 array attached to it.
Machine being backed up is a SQL server VM installed in a HyperV Cluster.

The replica of {Servername}\ARENADEV\ArenaDB on {Servername.domain.local} is inconsistent with the protected data source. All protection activities for data source will fail until the replica is synchronized with consistency check. (ID: 3106)

DPM could not run the backup/recovery job on {Servername.domain.local} because it is owned by the DPM server{Servername.domain.local}. (ID: 3180)

Is this DPM 2007 or DPM 2010 ?

The message is suggesting that another DPM server is acting as the primary DPM server.  If you have switched protection (so Secondary server is now protecting the data source), then check the other DPM server and see if recovery points are being made there.  You will need to switch protection back if you want this DPM server to start making recovery points.

If DPM 2010, you can do switch protection back by clicking on the alert and taking ownership of the agent.

If DPM 2007, you need to use power shell to switch protection back.
