Select Express full and copy backup for exchange 2010 RRS feed

  • Hello All,

    I have a problem regarding Exchange 2010 and DPM 2010. When i going to create protection group for exchange 2010 DAG, I have to select copy backups and Express full backups. Its mentioning i can only take one Express full backup in a Copy. I have diffrent senarios, please let me know which copys should i need to add for copy backups and which copys for Express full backups.

    2 DAG servers ( Active and Passive) Server1 and Server 2

    2 Databases ( MDB01, MDB02)

    Both Databases mounted on Server 1.

    HOw to select Express full and copy backup ?

  • Hey,

    When you have mailbox databases that are member of a dag, you can only perform a full backup of one copy of the database because of federated log truncation.

    So what you need to do is (in your example) select MDB01 on Server1 as express full and MDB01 on Server2 as Copy.  If you would have a 3rd server, then the MDB01 on Server3 would also be protected as copy.  It is advised that you take at least one express full and one copy of a database.
