Email moving to Junk folder from inbox RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have a client whose email messages from internal addresses are coming to the inbox first, but are disappearing from there and showing up in the junk folder within about 5 seconds. Any Ideas why this would all of a sudden start happening when for the longest time everything was working normal and how to fix it?

  • Hi,

Since the issue only happens to one user, please change a computer to configure this problematic account in Outlook to check whether the issue can be reproduced.

If the issue doesn't happen in a new computer, please perform a clean boot for the problematic local machine. This can determine whether the issue is cuased by any third-party program installed in the computer. To do a clean boot for a windows computer, please refer to:

  • Hi,

Does the issue happen to all messages sent from internal users?

Please check whether there is any rule created in Outlook to move the specific messages to Junk E-mail folder. We can restart Outlook with \cleanrules switch (Start > Run > type Outlook \cleanrules and press Enter) and check whether the issue persists.

If there is no rule related for this user, please restart Outlook in safe mode or change a computer to check whether the issue can be reproduced or not.

  • Hi,

Sorry for the delay. I have tried the things that you suggested with no success. Just to make sure we are on the same page: this outlook account is sending all internal email directly from the inbox (after about 5 seconds) to a junk folder that is in the deleted items folder. There are no rules in place to tell it to do this. I have run the Outlook /cleanrules (did not work), Outlook /safemode (did not work). The email account has been in place for quite some time and was working fine until about 6 weeks ago when this started happening. We are using Office 2010 and nobody else in the office is having this issue.
