How to change MOSS from local accounts to domain accounts? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have a server that formerly ran in a separate environment stand alone and without any connection to AD. It used local service accounts.

Now I want to move the server into an AD domain and change the service accounts from local accounts to domain accounts.

What would be the best approach?

    thanks

    Sven

    Hi Sven,

If you just change the service account from local accounts to domain accounts, this will be ok. Cause you are moving to a domain, some service need to be run at domain account.

    Thanks,

  • Sven W,

you should First Install you're SharePoint 2010 and install Service Pack 1. Secondly you should install on a other Server you're SQL server.

Afther Installtion of SharePoint 2010 Run you're wizard and connect to new SQL.

Go on you're other SQL, and perform a Backup of you're table and restore it on the new SQL server database. The SharePoint will ask you to configure the Services. you can say to configure it byself or let SharePoint do.

you can read more about services here: http://www.ericharlan.com/Moss_SharePoint_2007_Blog/install-sharepoint-2010-and-manually-configure-service-accounts-a179.html

  • So, there is no difference in between

    • changing from domain to domain accounts
    • and my case: changing from local accounts to domain accounts?
