File corrupt or missing boot error system32\drivers\msisadrv.sys RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

the system could not be started because of the file corrupt or missing system32\drivers\msisadrv.sys error message appears. The problem is caused by an amateur installation of windows 7, now i have to fix the problems, but i don't know what exactly did the previous "professionalist". I have connected the HDD to another PC as external drive and checked the file msisadrv.sys It is there, but seems the windows xp doesn't see it. Maybe registy is damaged somehow. The problem here is that there is a very important third party software which cannot be re-installed and i do not want to loose it. I know i can restore the registry with XP install disc, but if i copy registry files from there, my windows will run like a clean new install and i will loose all my installed software including that program. Please tell me what can be done in this situation, to preserve the information for all installed software as it was before the startup problem. Thank you in advance !

  • @ arnavsharma - thanks for the reply, but chkdsk didn't help - no bad sectors, no lost data, everything is prefect but the file is still not recognized. It presents on the disc c:, but seems that windows XP can not see it. I have started windows XP in safe mode and it started loading several files, then comes the msisadrv.sys and the error message apears that windows could not start because it is missing or corrupt. I wonder if i copy this file from another working windows system - will it load correctly and what will be the final result?
